This weekend is pretty chill, which honestly feels like a blessing because next weekend Hanover officially catapults into Christmas mode. The lights go up, the markets kick in, and suddenly every free moment is either festive or expensive. So think of this weekend as the last deep breath before the sleigh bells start jingling on loop.

The Grinch is slithering into the Market House again, probably to steal produce or joy or both. The only way to keep him in line is to show up and take photos with him. Bring your kids. Bring your camera. Bring your patience. It is free, family friendly, and a guaranteed memory. Just leave the pets at home. The Grinch has enough chaos in him already.

📍 Grace Church of Hanover, 55 Albright Drive

Serving Soles is doing the kind of work that actually makes a difference. If your child pre-registered, they will receive a brand new pair of sneakers to walk, run, jump, scoot, or stomp into the season with. Kids must be present to try them on because even the best volunteers cannot guess shoe sizes from vibes alone. Preschool through high school are included. Questions go to [email protected].

📍 Little Fox Coffee & Books, 125 Broadway

If you want something meaningful to anchor this season, take the kids to hear Miss Deb from the YWCA read Keepunumuk: Weeachumun’s Thanksgiving Story. It is a beautiful Indigenous retelling that offers truth, nuance, and a lot more heart than the versions many of us grew up with. She is also bringing a craft, so your kids leave with something in their hands and something in their minds. All ages welcome.

Santa and Mrs. Claus are popping into Ikka’s Creative Treasures for the kind of cozy, low-key visit that reminds you small-town Christmas is undefeated. Kids can hand over their wish lists directly to the big guy. You can snap all the photos you want for free. Pets are welcome too, so if your dog has a Christmas sweater burning a hole in your conscience, this is your moment.

If you are craving clarity or just want a little magical nudge before the holiday whirlwind begins, K.L. Leadingham is your person. She is warm, intuitive, and somehow always pulls the exact card you needed even if you were busy pretending you did not. Walk-in readings all afternoon.
