🎉 This Weekend in Hanover

Fall’s got her groove back, and so does Hanover. This weekend’s lineup is giving main character energy. We’ve got scarecrow selfies, peaceful protests, 60s nostalgia, hometown fundraisers, and an art exhibit that’ll punch you right in the feelings (in the best possible way).

From Center Square to Spring Grove, there’s something worth showing up for (and not just for the photo ops). Every event this weekend is a little reminder of what makes this place special: people who care enough to keep showing up.

A big thank-you to this week’s sponsors, Haus and I Hate It Here. Clicking their links directly supports this newsletter.

🥨 Powered by Neighbors

Hanover runs on connection, and so does this newsletter. Every click, share, and kind note fuels something much bigger than an inbox update. It’s a reminder that community still matters.

With love and gratitude to the first 🌱 Founding Supporters of Heart of Hanover:

📋 Event Details

📸 Photos With The Scarecrow

📍 Hanover Market House, 210 E Chestnut St
🗓 Saturday, October 18 | 🕘 9 AM – 12 PM

The Scarecrow is back and looking camera-ready! Bring the kids, grab a pumpkin spice something, and snap that annual fall photo before they outgrow the matching flannel phase.

This free family favorite happens October 18 and 25, both Saturdays from 9 to noon. And rumor has it, the Market House crew is pulling out all the cozy autumn stops.

No pets, please. The Scarecrow spooks easily. 😉

No Kings March - Downtown Hanover

📍 Center Square, Downtown Hanover
🗓 Saturday, October 18 | 🕚 11 AM – 12 PM

Hanover joins towns across the country this Saturday for the No Kings March. This is a peaceful call for democracy, fairness, and the radical notion that nobody’s above the law (not even the ones who think they are).

It’s one hour of solidarity, connection, and collective voice. It’s a reminder that standing up doesn’t have to mean shouting down.

Organizers ask that everyone come in peace, leave the weapons at home, and bring an extra dose of kindness instead.

💙 Heroes In Blue Fundraiser

📍 Thoman Field, 219 E Railroad St, Spring Grove
🗓 Saturday, October 18 | 🕚 11 AM – 5 PM

A few miles down the road, Spring Grove is throwing a full-blown bash to support local officers complete with food trucks, vendors, raffles, and cornhole (because of course there’s cornhole).

The tournament kicks off at noon, run by the Canal Cornhole Cartel. And yes, that’s as delightfully over-the-top as it sounds. Teams are $60 to enter, with proceeds going straight to the cause.

Even if you’re not tossing bags, come hungry, shop local, and grab a fundraiser tee knowing 100% of profits go directly to officers and their families.

🏛️ Hanover Area Historical Society 60th Anniversary

📍 Warehime–Myers Mansion Grounds, 305 Baltimore St
🗓 Saturday, October 18 | 🕒 3 PM – 6 PM

Sixty years ago, a handful of history buffs decided Hanover’s story was worth saving. This weekend, we celebrate them — 1960s style.

Expect vintage fire trucks, groovy music, face painting, and classic cars parked on the mansion lawn. The first floor of the museum will be open, and there’s live organ music from Mike Pusker (3:30–4:30 PM) followed by Matthew Dodd’s 60s storytelling concert (5–6 PM).

Bring a lawn chair, snag a tie-dye tee, and soak in the nostalgia. It’s a full-circle moment for the town that never forgets its roots.

🎨 Resilience: Domestic Violence Awareness Month Art Exhibit

📍 The Gallery at the Old Post Office, 141 Broadway, Hanover
🗓 Opening Reception: Sunday, October 19 | 🕐 1 – 2:30 PM

Art has a way of saying what words can’t. The YWCA Hanover Safe Home is opening its Resilience exhibit to honor survivors of domestic violence. This is a moving showcase of works by survivors, advocates, and local artists exploring themes of healing, strength, and transformation.

It’s not just an art show; it’s a tribute to courage. Stop by, take it in, and let it remind you what rebuilding looks like.

The exhibit runs October 19 – November 6, with regular hours Monday–Thursday, 9 AM – 4:30 PM.

☕ Last Call for Coffee & Feedback

Time’s almost up! The Heart of Hanover Reader Survey closes Saturday, October 18 at 11:59 PM, and this is your last chance to win a $20 gift card to Britton Coffee Co.

It takes less than five minutes, but your input makes a world of difference in shaping the stories, events, and surprises coming your way this fall.

💡 Local Business Owners

I’m now booking sponsors for Heart of Hanover. If you’d like to reach 700+ engaged locals each week, email me at [email protected] for rates and availability.

👋🏼 Until Next Time…

If there’s ever been a weekend that sums up Hanover’s spirit, it’s this one. We’ve got opportunities to speak up, give back, stand tall, and maybe eat a cinnamon roll or two while we’re at it.

Whether you’re cheering on a fundraiser, standing in solidarity, or wandering through an art gallery that reminds you of the resilience of the human heart. It all counts.

Because that’s what community really is. A bunch of imperfect people showing up for each other anyway. See you out there, neighbor!

I’ll be back tomorrow. Same time, same place!

XoXo,
Megan
