👻 This Weekend in Hanover
Halloween is peeking around the corner, and Hanover is ready for it. 🎃
Our little town is absolutely buzzing — from costumed pups at Codorus to trunk-or-treats on every block.
If you’re the kind of person who wants to do all the things before the pumpkins start rotting on the porch, this lineup is your weekend roadmap.
Speaking of rotting pumpkins… ours didn’t make it. My son, Emerson, loves Halloween so he was ready to carve pumpkins as soon as October hit. I tried to convince him to wait until it cooled down, but he insisted. When I had to toss our disgustingly moldy pumpkin last week, I thought he’d be disappointed, but nope. Turns out, I fell right into his trap. He’d planned all along to carve another one this weekend. Smart kid, I’ll tell you.
A big thank-you to this week’s sponsors, Contrarian Thinking and I Hate It Here. Clicking their links directly supports this newsletter and helps keep local stories alive.

🌱 Founding Supporters
You’ve might not have noticed from your end, but Heart of Hanover has been growing fast lately. There’s been a ton of new subscribers, new sponsors, and a few exciting projects quietly taking shape behind the scenes. None of that would’ve been possible without a few kind souls who decided to take a leap of faith early on.
Darlene · Brian · Holly · Andy
You made it possible for me to take the next big step as I partner with a business consultant to bring more of Hanover into the newsletter. My dream has always been to make Heart of Hanover completely about this town — sponsors included.
While I’m grateful for the national brands who’ve supported me so far, I’m thrilled to say local sponsors are coming soon. 👀
If you’ve ever thought, “I love what this newsletter is doing for Hanover,” this is your moment to join the club. Become a Founding Supporter and help bring even more local storytelling to life. Early supporters will get exclusive access to future events and promotions as the next chapter unfolds.

🗓️ Want More Local Events?
This weekend’s just the start. The full Heart of Hanover calendar is updated weekly with live music, local classes, pop-ups, and family-friendly events.
In case you missed it, I also published a special edition earlier this week: the Heart of Hanover Halloween Guide 2025. Today’s email gives you a glimpse of what’s happening this weekend, but that guide includes 30+ spooky events happening all around town.

☕ Subscriber Survey Winner
Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey! Out of over 300 entries, the lucky winner of the $20 virtual gift card to Britton Coffee Co. is CAROLYN.
Congratulations, Carolyn! Check your inbox for my email. It’s possible that it ended up in under the promotions tab or in the spam folder. I’ll send your gift card as soon as I hear back.
Side note: I learned a valuable lesson running my first giveaway. Apparently, I should’ve asked for last names. Luckily, only one Carolyn entered!

👋🏼 Until Next Time…
Another newsletter on the books. I’m honestly still surprised by how excited I get every time I sit down to write one.
If you know me in real life, you know I’ve got about twelve hobbies in rotation at any given time. I love learning everything about something… until I don’t. But this newsletter has taught me something important: I don’t just love learning; I love doing when it’s about this community.
If you’ve got something that lights you up the way Heart of Hanover does for me, I hope you make time for it this weekend. And if you don’t yet, that’s okay. The right thing has a funny way of finding you when it’s meant to.
Thank you for being here, for reading, for caring about your town, and for helping me build something that matters.
Thank you to this week’s sponsors, Contrarian Thinking and I Hate It Here.
Now go have some fun. Put on the costume, eat too much candy (then brush your teeth, please), and remember that community is the real treat.
And I’ll see you again tomorrow. Same time, same place.
XoXo,
Megan

The best HR advice comes from those in the trenches. That’s what this is: real-world HR insights delivered in a newsletter from Hebba Youssef, a Chief People Officer who’s been there.
